Tour Description

Beginning in Mumbai we continue to Shirdi, the pilgrimage city visited by the followers of Sri Sai Baba. After exploring the sacred sites we will fly to Delhi and begin our Delhi experience with a tour of the city. We will visit the community kitchen of the Gudwara, Sikh Temple that feeds thousands each day. Next we drive to Agra, home to the majestic Taj Mahal. Sunrise is the best time to visit the Taj then we will visit local artisans who families were responsible for the ornate inlay of precious stones in the Taj Mahal.
We then travel to the Pink City of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Visit local bazaars and the City Palace.
From Jaipur we will experience first hand the Indian Railway on our 6 hour train ride to Udaipur, this is a wonderful way to relax and see the landscapes of the Thar desert and local villages pass by.
In Udaipur, founded in 1559 and known as 'Venice of the East' or 'City of Lakes' we have a 3 nght stay in a magnificent boutique hotel on the edge of Lake Pichola. The city was made famous by the The Lake Palace being featured in the James Bond film Octopussy. With it's narrow streets, local craftsman, antiques, bazaars and local cuisine this is a wonderful city to spend a few days relaxing and exploring.
From Udaipur we will return to Delhi for our flight home.

Day 1: Arrival Day Mumbai

Arrive in Mumbai Arrive in Mumbai and transfer to your hotel for check in.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the local surrounds.

Day 2: Mumbai to Shirdi

Relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or talk an early morning walk near our hotel. This morning is at your leisure.
Afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Shirdi.
On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Shirdi. If flight not available then transfer by road to Shirdi (approx. 5 to 6 hours journey).
Shirdi is a town in the state of Maharashtra, in western India. It's known as the former home of revered spiritual leader Sai Baba, and as a major pilgrimage site. Devotees gather daily at the Sai Baba Temple complex to honor his legacy. Here, the Samadhi Mandir shrine has an ornate marble statue of Sai Baba, alongside his tomb.
Close by are Dwarkamai, a mosque where Sai Baba once lived, and tree-lined Lendi Garden.

Day 3: Shirdi Temple Sri Sai Baba

Explore this beautiful city firstly visit the Shirdi Temple. The Shirdi temple is dedicated to Sri Sai Baba and he is revered as one of the greatest saints ever seen in India, endowed with unprecedented powers and is worshipped as a incarnations of god. Baba first made his appearance in Shirdi as a youth and remained there until his death in 1918. He transformed the lives of those who met him and continuously is doing so even after his Samadhi for those who pray him for his blessings.

Day 4: Shirdi to Delhi

Late morning transfer to Shirdi airport for flight to Delhi and transfer to your hotel in Delhi.  Rest of the day at one of the bustling bazaars of Delhi.

Day 5: Delhi Sultanate Tour

We start our Delhi experience with Sultanate Delhi Tour – an introduction to the city, Quatab Minar and surrounds.  Here we unearth layers of history and see and learn about architectural features of different time periods all in one place.
Visit a country home of a British Viceroy and Mughal emperor and a Sufi Shrine in Mehrauli Village.  You will also see birds and butterflies in the Archeological Park that we take a stroll through.
Visit and learn how the community kitchen of the Gudwara (Sikh Temple) feeds many people on a daily basis in Delhi and eat with the locals.
Rest of the day at one of the bustling bazaars of Delhi.

Day 6: Delhi to Agra

Morning drive to Agra, arriving in time to plenty of free time to explore Agra including the Agra Fort. Walk through  the Old Mughal city where  the direct decesendants of the 20,000 direct descendants of  the artisans who built the Taj Mahal still live. The Taj Mahal, is the world’s most grand monument to love, built by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz. However, not all love stories have happy endings, Shah Jahan was imprisoned in Agra Fort by his son and where he spent his final years.

Day 7: Taj Mahal

Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal.  The Taj Mahal is India’s most-photographed monument, and today you’ll see why. Built between 1632 and 1653 in memory of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s third wife, the Taj Mahal is world-renowned and widely admired.
After the Taj, return to your hotel for breakfast and travel to Jaipur, the Pink City by car reaching the capital of Rajasthan in the mid afternoon.
You’ll have the rest of the afternoon to explore Jaipur with a visit to the Hawa Mahal, City Palace or do some more shopping in one of the many bazaars.

Day 8: Pink City Jaipur

On your second day in Jaipur, you’ll visit the magnificent Amber Fort as a group. Amber fort was built in 1592; and it has seen renovations and improvements for over two centuries! Its name is said to derive from the many jewels that are used for decoration inside…see for yourself! Later afternoon, explore the sights and colours of the Jaipur Markets including the famous Johari Bazaar (Jeweller’s Market). In the evening you can visit the most iconic cinema in Jaipur, Raj Mandir, for a taste of Bollywood’s magical brand of entertainment.
*Optional Extra in Jaipur  – Cooking Class with local family Learn to make  local Rajasthani meals and eat what you have cooked including their special Biryani.

Day 9: Jaipur to Udaipur

After an early breakfast leave for Udaipur by Ac train (approx. 6 hours) passing  through the Thar Desert you will witness desert life of villagers dressed in colourful clothes herding animals and of desert scenery as train run through the desertpur.  Arrive mid-afternoon and check into your hotel by the Lake Pichola.  Relax in the evening of traditional Rajasthani cuisine. Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is one of India’s most picturesque cities. Palaces surround the city, the most famous being The Lake Palace, which covers an entire island and was featured in the James Bond film Octopussy. The city was founded in 1559 and was the capital of the Mewar kingdom. There’s no doubt you’ll enjoy this relaxing, seductive city.

Day 10: Udaipur Venice of the East

Explore this beautiful city firstly with a visit to the massive City Palace with its many splendourous rooms and glimpses into the era of this opulence.   Leisurely stroll the streets around the old city.  Late afternoon gather to board our boat for a late afternoon cruise around Lake Pichola and sunset cocktails on Jagmandir Island Palace.

Day 11: Udaipur Venice of the East

Early morning heritage and bicycle ride around the Fatehsagar Lake and witness the sunrise over the Aravali Hills. Return to the hotel for a late breakfast.  Rest of the day at leisure or last minute shopping or taking in the beauty of this lovely city.

Day 12: Udaipur to Delhi

After breakfast leave for your flight to Delhi, transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is yours to pick up that bargain to take home, visit or revisit any of the sites that you are interested in including India Gate, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat (the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi) or Rajpath. 
Our final night is our final Farewell dinner.

Day 13: Departure Day Delhi

This morning our trip will sadly come to an end as a group before we bid our farewells. 
Our Pink Lotus Tours representative will transfer you to Delhu International Airport for your flight home.
