Pre-Arrival Day Saturday 8th February  We highly recommend you try to arrive a day early to relax and adjust to the time-zone. Extra night accommodation is USD160 per room
Day 1: Sunday           Cairo, Welcome to Egypt
We will be met at Cairo International Airport and transferred to our hotel just near the Pyramids.
The drive to the hotel takes around an hour and it's a one of a kind experience!
We enjoy our ‘Welcome Dinner’ of authentic Egyptian Cuisine at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Monday                      Saqqara, Tomb of Mehu, Egyptian BBQ & Papyrus Institute
Saqqara was known in Ancient times as a place for healing.
Visit the Step Pyramid, the world's oldest major stone structure.
We then visit the newly opened tombs in Saqqara, discovered over 60 years ago but only just opened to the public.
Saqqara is world famous for its traditional carpet making schools so we will visit one while in the area.
A tradition Egyptian lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
The day is not over yet, we will visit the government regulated Papyrus Institute. We will now experience how the ancients recorded their history on the first paper ever produced.
See the processes and efforts it took to make this ancient form of paper. Also, enjoy the beautiful illustrative Egyptian art and stories painted depicting Egyptian lifestyle and culture.

Day 3: Tuesday                      Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & Sacred Oils Workshop
This morning we will meet with a local Egyptian Healer and Reiki Master and learn about the 7 Sacred Chakra Healing Oils that date back to the time of the Pharaoh’s and all their healing benefits.  Here at the perfumery you can also purchase the base oil of your favourite fragrance.
Later, we will explore the Giza Plateau, your chance to personally stand where the Ancient Egyptians stood thousands of years ago, next to the Great Pyramid of Cheops, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that still exists.
We continue our adventure with a camel ride through the Sahara for those who are interested (optional extra cost).
We finish our visit to the plateau with the Guardian Angel of the area, the monolithic and iconic Sphinx.
Late Lunch/Early Dinner then we will then transfer to Cairo Airport for our flight to Luxor (included)

Day 4:    Wednesday       Dendera Temple of Hathor, Goddess of Love, Motherhood & Joy
The Temple of Hathor is located in Dendera is a magnificent sight with its main building virtually intact, with twisting stairways carved with hieroglyphs.
Hathor was a major goddess in the ancient Egyptian pantheon, who personified the principles of joy, feminine love, and motherhood, and her cult centre was at Dendera, one of the best-preserved temple complexes in all of Egypt. The Temple of Hathor is the largest and most impressive buildings in this religious complex, and is visually stunning with its grand entrance, detailed carvings, hieroglyphs, and decorated ceilings.
The city of Dendera is located on the West Bank of the Nile, about 60 km drive north of Luxor.
In the evening, free time at leisure.

Day 5:  Thursday West Bank of Luxor – Valley of the Kings
Optional Hot Air Balloon, float high above the Nile & Valley of the Kings.
Enjoy a visit to the Valley of the Kings. Climb down into the spectacularly decorated tombs of the Pharaohs.  After that, we visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.  The name Deir el-Bahri means ‘Northern Monastery’, indicating that the site was once used by Christian monks. Prior to the coming of Christianity, however, the site was a complex of mortuary temples and tombs built by the ancient Egyptians. Hatshepsut is arguably one of the most formidable women in ancient Egypt. Hatshepsut was the first female ruler of ancient Egypt to reign as a male with the full authority of pharaoh.  Today we will visit a local alabaster factory and see how the hand-made pieces as created. Day 6:    Friday                   Karnak Temples Luxor Museum & Jewellery Shopping
Karnak Temple at the East bank of the River Nile, the temple complex is huge, covering an area of 1 ½ x 3 km dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun and was also the centre of his worship for his wife Mut and their son Khons. There are over 25 temples and chapels in the complex.
The Karnak complex includes several of the finest examples of ancient Egyptian design and architecture. Among them is the Hypostyle Hall, considered one of the world’s great architectural achievements.
It is filled with 134 enormous pillars, the highest 70 feet tall, and each about 45 feet around.
For those who might like to have their very own cartouche made we will visit a jewellery shop that can custom make one for you and have it ready before we leave Luxor.
Overnight in Luxor Sonesta St George, again positioned on the edge of the Nile River.

Day 7:                          Luxor Temple by Night
This morning we check out of our hotel and embark our Nile River Cruise.
Lunch is served at 1pm then we can enjoy the sun-deck for the afternoon and settle in to our cabins.
Late in the afternoon we will visit the magnificent Luxor Temple.
Luxor Temple is a great temple complex in modern Luxor dedicated to Amun, a creator god often fused with the sun-god Ra into Amun-Ra. Luxor Temple is huge in scale, it once housed a village within its walls. Later additions include a shrine to Alexander the Great, a Roman sanctuary, and an Islamic shrine to a 13th-century holy man.  Return to the boat for dinner and on-board entertainment

Day 8:  Sailing Day  - Rest, relax and enjoy the Nile
Today we will sail towards the city of Edfu. Enjoy the time on-board watching the life of the Egyptians on the river bank, feeling like it is the same as in years gone by. Farmers are tending their crops and children are happily swimming in the river. Have your camera with you as there are always plenty of animals and birdlife to photograph along the way.
On-board the boat is also a massage therapist and beauty salon if you wish to have some pampering.
Day 9     Nile Cruise Komombo Temple
After breakfast on-board we sail towards Komombo.
Komombo is the dual temple of Horus & Sobek.  Here at Komombo we ask you to ponder your dualities, the good and the bad, the old and the new, the past and the present, the highs and the lows, the strengths and the weaknesses, the successes and lessons.     Afternoon Tea on the Sun Deck
Dress like an Egyptian at the Galabeya Party tonight hosted in the lounge on-board.

 Day 10   Philae Temple, Egyptian Cotton & Aswan Market
This morning we disembark our Nile River Cruise in Aswan
Today we take a relaxing motor boat ride to Agilkia Island to visit the awesome Philae Temple, one of the most visited Temples in Nubia. Philae Temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis, the wife of Osiris and mother of Horus.
Philae is symbolic to the Base Chakra and like the womb it is surrounded by water and encourages us to think about creation and re-birth.      Dinner tonight will be a special experience as we visit a local Nubian restaurant.
After dinner we will wander through Aswan Market before going back to our hotel.

Day 11   Abu Simbel
An early start today, so we can explore Abu Simbel. Great Temple of Ramses II, carved in the mountain on the west bank of the Nile between 1274 and 1244 BC and dedicated to the gods Ra-Horakhty, Amun and Ptah. This temple is aligned in such a way that, twice a year the first rays of the rising sun penetrate the temple, through the vestibule and into the sanctuary, where they illuminate the figures of the gods except Ptah. The Temple of Hathor is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, Ramses beloved wife.

Day 12   Flight to Cairo
Return to Cairo and back to where we started near the pyramids. Depending on our flight times, we may have time for a walk up to the pyramids for another wander around the pyramids or simply explore the facilities at the hotel and book yourself in for a spa treatment.

Day 13   Egyptian Museum & Khan el Khalili Market
Step into the energy of the city that never sleeps, we experience the crazy Cairo traffic as we drive into downtown Cairo and Tahrir Square, scene of the 2011 revolution and location of the Egyptian Museum.
The current Egyptian Museum was built before the discovery of the treasures of King Tutankhamen and his famous solid gold funerary mask so it is overflowing with ancient artefacts and would take many, many visits to see in its entirety so we highlight the best of the best.
Later this afternoon we will be able to explore Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s old bazaar.

Day 14                   Departure Day
Enjoy one last breakfast as you gaze at the Pyramids then sadly, it is time to return home.
A representative of Pink Lotus Egypt Tours will transfer you to Cairo International Airport and assist with all check-in procedures.
